Annual Soup Supper Returns!

Beginning in 2008, almost every January SFMV has invited members and friends to gather for a delicious and low-stress post-holiday gathering . This year, our annual Soup Supper will be Monday January 13th at 5:30. We'll get together at My Brother's Place at Trinity Episcopal Church, 316 Adams in downtown Toledo. This will be a pot luck gathering, with no charge for members and a small fee for guests. Mark your calendars now and begin thinking about what you'll bring: We suggest soup or something that goes with soup. We're planning an exciting schedule of events for 2014, so now is a good time to join or renew your membership. Do you know someone who's interested in being part of our global, grassroots organization with more than 150,000 members and 2,000 food communities throughout 150+ countries? A membership in Slow Food would be a great holiday gift!

Lots of energy at the November 18th annual meeting, and lots of exciting events coming soon for Slow Food Maumee Valley. New chapter board members were elected: Paula Ross, Chair; Mary Weiss, Vice Chair; Michael Leizerman, Treasurer; Anita Levin: Secretary; Elizabeth Bergman, Lisa Blake, and Amelia Contreras, Board Members Everyone is welcome to join Slow Food Maumee Valley by becoming a member of Slow Food USA . Just choose "Maumee Valley" as your chapter and join us to celebrate food that is good, clean and fair and to help make that food available to everyone.

Annual Meeting

Slow Food Maumee Valley members are invited to attend our annual meeting on Tuesday November 19th, 5 PM, in the Kelly Room of the Main Library, Downtown Toledo. We will review bylaws and elect a leadership team.

Potluck Harvest Supper

Mary and Steve Weiss will host the Potluck Harvest Supper on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 4 PM. (Please note this is a date change from the original schedule!) The cost will be $5 per person and a dish to share per family. Sorry this event is only open to SFMV members. Please RSVP to Mary at 419 842-0005. This event is limited to the first 25 people who RSVP due to space limitations! Looking forward to seeing you then!

Earth Day Pot Luck at Sage Organics

It was a bright and sunny Sunday at Sage Organics, and our hostess, Liz Bergman, led us on a tour which included chickens, pigs, a field of garlic (outdoors, planted last fall), and rows of fresh greens (in hoop houses). Then we gratefully came into the warm house and enjoyed a potluck dinner featuring many local ingredients. Thanks to Liz Bergman and all who attended!

Earth Day With Slow Food Maumee Valley: Pot Luck Supper at Sage Organics

To celebrate Earth Day 2013, we will be visiting Liz Bergman at Sage Organics,a small farm located just outside of the village of Genoa, Ohio. Join us to see a working organic farm, learn about the challenges facing our local farmers and get together with your Slow Foods friends after a long winter!
